Here are some selected pieces of mine, more can be found on my Instagram here !
In Blood, Flesh, and Turmoil the Light Still Shines.
This piece was mostly an experimental piece to test out new ideas. Recently my pieces have mostly been centered on individual characters but with little context or abstractness to add flavour to the art piece. With this, I created a sketch and gave myself time to actually process and add depth into the sentiment of mark-making. I rendered and finished the piece on my phone and I had fun trying something relatively different than the norm.
A Dear Princess
This piece was a fun one. At the time of making this piece, I had doubts of my skill when it came to backgrounds and environments in my pieces. After all, I felt it was time to test how rusty I had gotten in hopes of revamping my skills. Working up the first sketch was rather fun, I love drawing flurryfull dresses, and expanding the piece beyond the main figure was rather refreshing. It felt like the piece was truly “whole.” Rendering the piece afterwards was a bit more tedious, but when looking at the results, I believe it was worth it. It took a few tries to feel comfortable with the lighting, but overall I think it worked out smoothly.
Crybaby
This piece I honestly did on a whim. I wanted to continue experimenting and working on different ways to spice up my lineart, as well as to work with colours I don’t touch very often; I believe the colour combos I chose for the outfit show that quite clearly. I wanted to finish the piece with a sort of clown-esque vibe, as well as mirroring the expression with the hand gesture. I messed around with IbisPaint’s tools to create the tears and I messed around with my normal shading routine to render the hair.
Overall, I was pretty pleased when I reached to the final product, so much so that I ended up created another piece mirroring the first.
Abalia
Since 2022, I’ve been doing an annual redraw of one of my characters, Abalia. I mostly do this redraw to see how my art style has evolved over the years, as well as how much I’ve improved during my journey. I also do it as a sort of “loyalty” to the art, that I’m fervent in what I do and I don’t intend to give up.
I always look forward to my redraws, before Abalia, I used to redraw a fox drawing I made in 2018, but ever since my change into Kalotropis, I felt it fitting to refresh onto a new journey along the same goal.
Below are the prior pieces, the left being 2023’s redraw and the right, the original 2022 piece.
